Default what is it?

In the photo there's a wire running between the two posts on the constant voltage regulator (CVR). This wire leads to a post just below the CVR that is secured to the cluster body with a nut. What is this wire for?

Most likely a ground since the cluster isn't grounded and without it your gauge lights wouldn't work.
