Default Help me with this engine

Can anyone identify this engine? Is it 260cu, 289cu or something else?
It's in a 65 Ford Mustang and it has a manual gearbox.

They're the same block externally pretty much. Are there 5 or 6 bolts that mount the trans to the motor? That will help a little. Best bet is to get under the pass. side and remove the stater. Bring a can of Gunk spray, a tooth brush and a rag, you will find the casting number and date of the engine embossed into the rear corner of the engine just above the oil pan mouting like this:

Post those numbers/letters and we may be able to figure it out.

Sorry, can't differentiate just from the pic as they are the same block 260/289/302, the '65 model could have had a 260 or 289 factory, 5 or 6 bolt bellhousing. Just depends on buid date. Do you know the VIN?

When someone was identifying another engine as 260cu, he said this:
The engine appears to be a 260 because of the location of the oil breather and the fact that it has a generator. The early cars had the breather in the location show in the picture while the later cars had them on the left valve cover. The transmission appears to be a 3 speed manual. That is the best I can do from those pictures.

Is this helpfull to determinate this engine above?

unfortunately no way to tell. it's a small block V8, can't even see alternator/generator in this picture. and swapping the engine doesn't mean the generator has been swapped to alternator. if you have the VIN of the car (the first 5 numbers) we can tell you what _should_ be in there, no guarantee but maybe an indicator
