Default Did i get ripped off?

After posting my grandfathers old 73' mustang online a guy came buy to pick parts off of it because the car was being used as his parts car before he died. The guy seem genuine so i allowed him to take what he need given he was going to give me a fair price.

He ended up takeing both doors
The tail lights
The whole dash board including instrument panel with tachometer
and the front bumper.

Anyways he gave me 60$ for all of that.

Now i really think that all of that is worth more then 60$ for sure given the fact it was stored in a shed the last 10 years and none of those peices really had any rust.

But i am no expert in mustang prices so thats why i came here to ask you guys.

Thanks

Seems like the guy got a good deal. I know in a lot of mustang salvage yards a door alone is worth more than 60 bucks. call it a lesson learned research a little what parts are going for and then price them accordingly. That way you have a good starting point to start from and can negotiate from there

Yeah I'd say so. A door is probably worth about $100 a piece.

That is a tough one because you are in Hawaii. If there were no other 73 mustangs they would be worthless. If a guy in hawaii needed 73 doors and I had them, I would charged him $200 apiece easy. Where else is he going to go and what is he going to pay? Conducting business or trade is little more than supply and demand.

Don't fret what you think you lost. Karma has a way of paying you back.

Sucks, but like someone else said, you've got karma on your side now.

If you thought it was worth more than $60 then when he offerd you the money you say no I want $xxx amount for all that. Since you took what was offerd then you weren't "ripped off" . I have sold lots of parts for less than I could get off ebay but I was happy that I was able make a little money and someone got a good deal. Rember not to long ago a plain jain 71-73 mustang parts car was worth maybe $200.00 dollars complete. Scott

Yes, this is why you should do your home work first.

The tach could have gone for $50.00

Doors $100+

Even at $160 or $200 bucks the guy still would have been getting a good deal.

The kicker is hawaii. Im sure there's not too many 73's on the island but hash this one off as a learning experience and dont be too hard on your self.

Another way to look at it is maybe the guy will be a return customer - and you can part out the rest of the car quicker.
