front shocks
ok i have a 1967 and i have replaced my rear shocks and i am getting ready to replace the fronts and will keep the coil springs. How do i go about doing this whole thing and what is the easiest way. I should know how to do it but i have never messed with the front shocks.
The lower nuts are easier to get off if you leave the car on the ground or leave the suspension loaded. The bottoms are 1/2 inch and you may need a swivel. take the tops loose, also a 1/2 inch and oull the shock out through the top.
Previous poster has the right idea. I do it this way:
with weight on the tire use a long extension and socket to remove the lower nuts, washers, and mount grommets. Move the top of the car and remove the top nut off o the stud, washer and top grommet. remove shock tower cap ( 4 nuts) and the shock will come right out. Going back together, put the new shock in and attach the lower nuts first to the spring perch then go back to the upper mount.
