Default Coolant sensor help needed

Hi All, OK I have a 347 stroker in my 65 Stang and putting on the new FAST EFi system and need to put in a coolant sensor. Problem is that the Edelbrock Performer 289 intake only has one port and that is taken up by the dash sender. I have C.I. heads and can't seem to locate any other ports anywhere on the engine. Was thinking about a T-stat housing with a sensor port or an inline radiator hose fitting but those probably won't work because of the action of the t-stat. The temp won't be accurate and will fluxuate wildly making the EFi system have a brain anuresm, so does anyone know where I can put the FAST sensor to read the coolant temp of the engine? If the flow was fairly constant through the heater core, I could Tee that off and put the sensor there. (there is no water valve on the heater, just a damper to close off the core from the plenum in the car) Any help would be appreciated! The folks at FAST were at a loss as to how to help on this issue. Check out my page (Rollin Thinder) to see the car and engine...perhaps that will help. Thanks guys and gals! Reid

Drill and tap a hole in your coolant passage on the Intake.

Use the manifold hole for the efi sensor and then get a thermostat housing that has the hole and move the dash sensor there.

Hi Guys, thanks for the ideas. Drilling and tapping sounds a bit risky with a cast aluminum intake already installed. It could be done but then if I was into it that deep, it might be better to get another intake manifold. The second idea sounds promising. Knowing where the sensor is located for the dash gauge, I could take that into consideration when checking the temp while driving. I have looked for those tapped t-stat housings, can't seem to find one with an angle for a SBF, especially chromed...any ideas who might have them? Thanks again guys, always helps to have another set of eyes on the task. Reid

I don't recommend the chrome housings. Everyone I have ever worked with is was junk. 68 I think was the first year that they used the vacuum switch mounted in the housing so that should work. I just checked cj and they don't differentiate between the housings with or without the hole. Check more of the online vendors or local junk yards would work.

Thanks for the heads up on the chrome housings. I THINK I have the Ford OEM number for the housing I need...Motorcraft RH35 so I am going to call a local dealer and see if I can get one, then I will just paint it the same color as the engine and call it good to go. Thanks again for the help!

How about the block, itself? On the right or left side isn't there a threaded port for a sensor? Assuming you have a roller block; just tossing the idea out there...
