Default Retiring my '66

2003 I graduate HS and about to start college. I have no car. I search the autotrader magazine for classic cars and this semi solid can spray painted black primer mustang stands out at me. I make a call and next thing i know me and my pops are taking her out for a test drive. We go back next day with cash in hand and I drive her home.

7 years go by and she gets a new black paint job some work under the hood and in various areas. She was far from show worthy but sounded hot and turned a few heads. Nothing like classic muscle. She was my daily driver but she was a light daily driver so for her it was no issue. 2010 rolls around and i had to make a big move in my life pushing me 2 hours away. My easy going daily driver became a hard daily driver. I didnt want to do it to her but had no choice. She took it like a champ as long as she could. She made it several months grinding away at the miles i would put on her. She started to hurt... leak abit more, click and clack more then usual... every speed bump was a hurdle. Today i left my 66 back home and drove off with my new '12. I will keep my classic for life and she is resting now but i am sure she will rise again with more power, even meaner and ready to kick ***.

Now that it doesn't have to do the daily-driver thing, you have the luxury of having more time to decide exactly what you're going to do to it.

The flip side is now that you have your '12 you have a pretty tough target to hit if you're going to try to match all of its various measures of performance with the '66. Take your time and choose wisely.
