Default What does this wire go to?

#1 on the picture, the brown wire, what does this go to? It's spliced into the red but the red is cut and hanging.

Also, #2, what is the purpose of this?

Can someone point me to a wiring diagram maybe?

Thanks for any help.
Don

there's a firewall connector in the wiring diagram, but not sure since don't know the 69 wiring. it "might!" be the brown one that goes to selonoid 'I' port. there are at least 2 brown coming through firewall and I can't really make out the amount of cables and the wires coming out of that plug you made a picture of

#2 in your picture is some sort of ballast resistor...What kind of ignition are you running?

#2 is a ballast resistor. it's wired inline with the ignition system (one side ignition key switch, the other is to coil+). It reduces the voltage at coil when the engine is running (to not overload it). the ignition system is designed to run at lower voltage so it works as well during cranking ....
