can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet :-) 99% of all mustang front end squaking is upper control arm bushings. grease em up.... I was suffereing that for 5 years (lube every 2 months ...) until I finally replaced them and I haven't heard of them sicne. You should have grease nipples that are impossible to get to at the upper control arm. grease there ...
Isn't that the reason you sometimes find Mustangs with holes cut in the shock towers?
Yup that is the reason the towers would have holes in them. I have never fully understood why they thought it was easier to cut the tower than it was to just unscrew the plug and screw in a 90* zerk.
Thanks for the feedback. I looked at the upper A arms and I noticed on on the nipples broke off. But, those big bolts that are on the outside of it, what is it there for?
I had the same problem. I put in new upper control arms, then greased them, a year later the left was making noise. I tried to put grease in but it would not take any. pulled the it out, took off the grease fitting and then the big nut. the threads on the big nut were dry and rusting. i put grease on it, put in a new grease fitting and shot grease through the fitting before putting the big nut back on, problem solved. 6 months later I had to do the other side. 4 years now and no problem. good luck.

the bolts are how you center the arm during assembly
