Default Possible I6 build?

I've been tossing this idea around for a few months and Id like to get everyones opinion on it. Little background first though.

I have a 67 coupe with a 351W in it. Got it from my father when I was 15 as a present. Was in need of a full restoration, and truthfully, I was in over my head. Still though, I dumped alot of time and money into it, yet it's still at my fathers house and still needs much work and thousands of dollars that I don't have. I also have my 06 GT and this gets most of my attention. 67 is still mine, but it's not going anywhere, so I'll get to that when I have a good job.

However, I want to learn how to build an engine from the block up. I kind of did with my father with the 351, but I was 15 (now 24) and the engine was never finished. I've been considering getting a straight 6 block and using that to learn. Would be nothing special, just a regular engine. considering the 6 because parts should be cheap and simple, and I respect the 6 shooter.

If you are looking for something cheap to learn on go to your local junk yard pick up a 302 out of a truck or van. Straight 6's are not as cheap as you think. Would cost right around the same to do a 302. Also if ya dont mind chevy engines look for a 305 or 350 also cheap and very easy to find.

By the time you get all the stuff you need for either an I-6 or a 302,, you are going to be better off with the 351 you already have.

Don't be intimidated, 351s are pretty simple engines to work on.

A Chevy conversion would be a PIA and more expensive than your 351 too.IMO, Too much **** to change, too much fabrication, and too much parts switching for a novice.
