I want to take all of the rust of my engine block what methods would i use? sandblasting? Is this expensive?

 

sandblasting would be the ideal thing to do.

 

Or bead blasting, or just plain old elbow grease with sand paper. Some guys also prefer using paint remover to get the old paint off, then using either a wire brush or sand paper to get down to shiny metal, afterwhich you would use a primer then the color coat. Unless the engine has been removed, sand blasting tends to get into the engine components.

 

Looks like right now my bidget requires elbow grease. is the paint remover special or just like normal mineral spirits?
