Default Steerringbox 1971 repairkit

Me and my dad have a 1971 Grande, which has a very leaky steerringbox. At a local store, they have a repairkit. This kit (C5AZ-3C538-DKT) is for a Saginaw Steeringbox.

How can i tell if this kit will fit my steeringbox?

As stated, it's for a 1971 grande with a 302 and Power Steerring

Thanks,
Steffan

According to this site, http://macsautoparts.com/steering-ge...0R3CHL1081525/ that part number should work for your 71 steering box.

Personally if you're going thru the trouble of taking out the box, I would just put in a new rebuilt box. They are not that much money if you return your core.
The steering would be alot tighter and less wandering on the highway too, because it's very common for the gears in these boxes to wear out. I put a rebuilt box in mine and it made a HUGE difference.

Just saw that you are in Europe, even with the shipping, I still think it would be worth it. Maybe the
parts place can order it and reduce some of the shipping cost.

If it were interesting, i would've ordered it at the local parts store. But they need to make a profit too, in which case, if the € vs $ is in the 1:1.45 area, it's better to order one from the US. Being in Europe, returning a core isn't that worht the trouble (and high shipping costs)

The car runs and drive just fine, even on highway speeds (75mph) the car stays on track. This car has been sitting for a long long time before we bought and restored it. All the gaskets and seals will be dryd out by now. In the beginning after the restoration, it was leaking from the beginning, but after 5-6 years, it really needs new seals. It's not fun filling the PS every other week.

I quess i could try that sealkit, kit should be around €55,- Versus a new sterringbox (aprox €650) it's a steal I just hope it fits in my steerringbox. I have no idea if it's a Saginaw or not.
