Default 302 enigne block

I really want to rebuild an engine and put her in my baby, but what 302 blocks can i get? Can it be any ford 302 block i can find in the junkyard or must it be from a mustang. Also is the 302 compatible with a c-4 tranny?

The 289 is the same block as the 302, so that widens your choices.

Sure you can. A raw bone 289 and 302 block will fit perfectly in your mustang, as that is what it was designed to do. Now, internally, the ones they put in trucks may have a different code, so be careful if you are buying an entire engine.

Forget putting in a 302, Take out your 289, and rebuild it. That way, you'll have the original engine(hopefully) and IMO a 289 is better then a 302.

i dont want to take out my engine becuase i need to drive it this would be like a project and when i am ready to install it ill just lower it in. i probably will end up getting a 289 block. will the value lower if i put a different rebuilt 289 in?

It wouldn't necessarily hurt the value, it depends, Are you keeping it forever, or going to be selling it soon. It's your car, so you can do whatever you want with it. ME, i would keep the engine original.

see this block would be like a side projecti would keep the original block too, and maybe rebuild both. I dont plan on selling it.
