Photoshop wheel chopping
I've got a real nice side view picture of my car and want to use the wheel/tire combos off other cars to "try out" as I'm getting real close to having to buy wheels and tires.
How do make round crops in Photo shop?
Or is there an easier way?
TIA,

TIA,
There is a polygon marquee tool in the tool bar up on the top left. It's normally a square but if you click and hold, you'll see a circle.

Oh, and hold shift to keep it a perfect cirle.

OK so I think I am the first person in history to flunk Photshop Kindergarten.
I was finally able to get the wheel surrounded with the marquee tool, but it's a real PITA. as soon as I start moving the cursor the whole circle moves off the wheel.
So after about 20 minutes I finally capture a wheel and make a layer. But I can't get the layer to work with the picture of my '66.
Is there an easier way, or maybe a graphics program for idiots? [:@] Obviously Photoshop elements 3.0 is above my comprehension level.
I finally just printed a picture of my car, then cropped the wheels and resized to fit the picture of my car. Printed them and cut out the wheels. Unfortunately the paper curls so it's hard to get a good grasp of what they look like.
So if anyone knows of a simpleton graphics program that will do this, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks,

What do you mean you cant get te layer to work with your image?
Can you send me the pic of your car w/ the wheels you want? I'll be glad to do it for ya.
Dont worry, photoshop is a very complex program, and even basic tasks require experience to deal with. If you really want to get into photoshop, buy a good book.
However, if you want to do it yourself, here is a little tutorial. (I just added pictures to help)
1: open the image of your car and the image of the wheel you want to add to your car.

2: Select the wheel you want to add with the eliptical marquee tool. (not the wheel on your car)

3: switch tools to the arrow selection tool (upper right hand corner of the toolbar)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...utorial/03.jpg
4: drag the selected wheel onto the picture of your car (this involved dragging between windows). This will make a new layer for the wheel.

5: Press ctrl+T to transform the wheel in order to fit on top of your car's wheel. you can change the size by placing your cursor over a corner, clicking and dragging. When you're done transforming, click enter, or double click on the wheel to exit the transforming box.

6: position the wheel over your car's wheel.
7: in the LAYERS MENU, right click on the layer that contains the new wheel. Click DUPLICATE LAYER. This will create a layer for the second wheel in the picture. It will be an exact copy of the wheel you just placed over your car.

8: drag the wheel on top of the second wheel on your car.

Done. Do a dance.
That's it basically, you can always adjust brightness and contrast to make the wheel look more like it belongs in the picture, but you get the idea.

its free and is easy to use.

Thanks again for all the help!
Your instructions make it look pretty easy.
I'll get back on this tomorrow. I'd like to figure this out if I can, so that I can do it in the future. I've got 3 different pictures of wheel sets, and am going to find some more to try on the picture of my car (kind of like the tire rack deal).
I'd like to look at the pictures for the next few weeks while I replace the front end and rear end. Then I've got to buy wheels and tires or it will be sitting on blocks until I do.
If I can't get this to work, I'll try the Gimp.org deal.

OK, so I got to step number 9 and my girl friend about lost dinner she was laughing so hard. She want's to know, since you did such a great job showing me how to do the wheels, if you can teach me to dance.
I told her that was absolutely hopeless...for some reason she agreed! Hmmmmm...[&:]
Don't tell Dodgestang but I snagged his wheels
Thanks again for your help, this is huge!!!! and I really appreciate the time you took to put the pictures up as well. I needed those too. So it wasn't a waste of time.
