66 Mustang C4 Park
Hi all. New here.
Doing a bunch of mechanical work on a 66 coupe that has sat for a while and needs some TLC. Most of the list is complete and the car is now road worthy. The current problem is Park. It will hold on level pavement, but won't hold on an incline. Park WAS used to stop the car from low speed after the owner had a brake failure. So ...........
Am I going up through the pan or/and removing the tail section to resolve this?

Not giving you a hard time... but Wow! History of brake failure, now rolling in park... and you call it road worthy. I recommend a quick release for the driver's door. What ever you do, don't drive faster than 20mph so you can safely bailout when the time comes. Rebuild the tranny, you probably have some broken hardware internally.
It was maybe a poor decision to buy the car, but the deed was done a few years ago. It was not running when I pulled it from the garage. SOME brake had been completed since a front line blew out. Now, the entire brake system has been dealt with including a functional e-brake. NOBODY needs to Park to have a road worthy car. Ask anyone with a manual gearbox !!!
So, now the the critiques are shared, back to the original question. Having spoken with a well known restorer up the street from me (hint - Lees Summit, Mo.), a failed park pawl is not rare on the C4s. Just looking for some shared experience. The transmission is otherwise flawless.
