remote mirror control

Default remote mirror control

After I removed the door panels to paint the doors the remote driver's mirror control **** and bezel won't stay in the door. It keeps falling out and flopping around on the cables. Am I missing some clip or something? I cant find anything that attaches the control to the door panel. The hole on the door panel is not wallowed out or anything and I was careful when I removed the bezel and pushed it into the door before the painting. I'm thinking about getting a new mirror anyway because the old one doesn't stay where it should using the control, but would that one not stay in either? Anyone else have this problem?

In the 71-73 there is a metal clip that goes between the door metal and the bezel that locks the control in place. It may have fallen in to the door. Its round with a hole large enough for the control to go thru.

Mine has a metal like washer that goes on the back side of the door panel
