Default 460 BB question

I have a 460 out of an early 70's Lincoln and I would like to rebuild it but can I use Ford parts? Common sense tells me I can but I'd like to make sure.

Also is it possible to make the 460 into a 429? I've heard of putting a 429 crank in the 460 block but do I need shorter/longer rods?

Why would you destroke it? Leave it 460 and yes it's a ford motor.

You could but i would leave it 460 and build up the top end you'll have a torque monster with it.

I built a 460 BB with 429 Police interceptor heads, nice cam, long tube headers, Edelbrok intake and carb when I was a teenager and it was a monster.

Yes you can use ford parts..You could destroke the motor into a 429 by changing out the crank and pistons although I have no idea why you would want to?

I know I am bucking trend here....

But everyone knows that the number "429" sounds cooler than "460".....

That is kind of a joke, but kind of not, I would sacrifice the 31 cubes if I had the chance to economically build a 429 instead of a 460 for a driver.

No one "needs" a 460 in a Mustang....

The reason I am considering making it a 429 is because of my ford buddies everyone and there brother has a 460. I figure I would try to build a stout 429 to use in a sleeper just to be different. Some consider it a sin to convert to smaller cubic inches but I was just curious and liked the sound of "Boss 429

Keep the 460 crank and buy the 429 sticker for the air cleaner. I won't tell.

+1..
Gotta figure an average low buck hotrod motor at around 1 hp per cubic inch..Why give away 31hp for nothing?
