Charging System Woes
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and new to Mustangs. My father has a 65' that has been in the garage for quite some time now. 289, 4 speed, factory air, all matching. I brought it out a couple months ago and have been playing around with it. It's all stock except for : Edlebrock manifold, Carter carb., after market exhaust, MSD ignition, 355 gears in the back, I think that's it. It's very clean and drives strong. The first problem I had was with the carb. It had Holly 650 on it before, but switched it out with the Carter, when it got gummed up with varnish after sittin' for so long. Now I have an electrical issue I'm trying narrow down. The car starts and runs great, but in the morning the batts. dead. I've checked the battery, the fuse bank, and the alternator so far. I know the voltage reg, starter and solenoid, and ignition are in line for the next tests. Is there a certain order this should be done in or does it not matter? Is there something else I'm missing? What kind of testing can I do? I'm pretty nieve to electrical so I'm learnin' on the fly. Thanks for any suggs and help.
