Drive train input
Hey guys, I am about ready to start swapping in parts to my car. My only thoughts are which end should i start with first?
What I plan to do is:
Power disc brake swap using the CSRP kit
t-5 swap using modern driveline kit
shorten driveshaft to accommodate for the t-5
install a 9" with 3.5 gears
Now my dilemma is summer is coming and I would like to start driving the car as my DD while the weather is good. So if I start with the disc brakes and t-5 swap and shorten my driveline before I put in my 9" what kind of problems will I run into if any?
If I were to run into any serious problems should I swap in my 9" first and move forward that way?
Just looking for some experiences you guys have had. Thanks.

start with the brakes first get them dialed in a 100%
Then do the t5 and driveshaft...get it dialed in a 100% and make sure there are no vibrations.
Then do the rearend.
The only issue is if you are running a 2.75 gear now it will be a bit of a dog with the t5 and you'll have to do 90 mph in 5th to avoid bogging down the engine when cursing but its drivable until you get around to doing the rearend.

Personally, I'd try to do the T5 and the rear at the same time. It would force you to deal with all of your driveshaft issues at once.
That said, why are you swapping to a 9"? What motor are you running, and how much torque will it put out? Do you realize that you'll probably break your T5 before a properly built 8" diff?

Starfury, I am running my stock 302 will do a rebuild at a later date. Nothing crazy for hp or torque just above stock specs. I am doing the swap because I got the 9" for free and thought it would be a great upgrade for the price. The 9" is out of a 67 mustang so I know it will bolt in no problem to my 70cousins coupe. As for the t5 torque issue I am not really concerned since I wont be going to crazy with the rebuild unless I am missing something.

Thanks for the responses guys. After doing some reading I found the torque ratings for my 302 and I plan on building the motor to just above stock, put a roller cam and lifters in it. After adding the exhaust and rear end with the 3.5 gears what would I have to build the t5 to? Or would just doing an overhaul be my best bet with this engine?

When you said you were going to put a roller cam/lifters in it, did you mean you're going to convert it? I ask because I just made a thread about cam/lifter conversions and you will need a conversion kit if it's not already roller.
