Default 351 windsor value VS 4.6L

Hey all-
I recently picked up a 2001 4.6L gt long block for a hundred bucks. The guy pulled it out of his gt to put a aluminator motor in his. The motor ran great before it was pulled. My original intention was to sell it to make a quick buck. But it hasnt sold in a month. A friend of a friend has a early 90's 351 windsor long block that he is willing to trade. I have a 68 mustang that has a 302 4bbl that runs great. My question is that which engine hold more value? Am I getting the crap end o the stick if I make a straight trade? It would seem to me that the 4.6 would worth more cash. I am not interested in putting that in my 68. But the 351 sounds interesting. Especially if the intake manifold and carb would directly bolt up. Also, what typ of HP difference am I looking at vs the 351 - 302?
Any opinions or info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Mike

The intake won't fit a 351 has a higher deck height then a 289/302 does.Power on that 351 depends a lot on how it was built in the 90s a lot of v8s was choked to death for power to pass smog.

You're probably losing a bit on the deal, but it's all about supply and demand. If you can't sell the 4.6 for what it's worth (which may only be a couple hundred), it's more valuable to you as a trade for the 351.

That said, I'd pick up the 351 with the intentions of building it up into a nice performance motor, not swapping it directly into the car.

I would ask what all has been done to the 351 and any receipt from any aftermarket parts bought.

If you plan on building a nice motor for your car, You're going to spend a good bit more money on the 4.6 as compared to the 351, if that's the road you're willing to take. I'd say flipping for parts might be closer to fair too. The market for mod motors is smaller than for 351's. You'd sell the 351 faster.

^ I second the above. To do the conversion to a 4.6 SOHC would be more costly than a 351. And as stated above, the 4.6 SOHC market is not there as it is for a good 351 block!

Is the 351 a roller block?

It is a roller block, but i have no intention of placing the 4.6 in the 68. I justwant to make sure I am getting a good deal if I trade the 351 long block for the 4.6.

If it's a roller block and comes with lifters, I'd do it. That's a big chunk of change in a build right there.
