Default 289 Engine Project...

I currently have a 99' V6 and I was wanting to do a engine swap eventually but I was wanting to start with a 289 engine block and I found one on ebay motors and I was just wanting to know what you guys thought about the block, like is it in good enough shape to start a build on etc. and for my purpose...it will be a daily driver as well as some street races. Heres Link...

P.S.
It seems like a really good block to me considering the price!?!

It's working now. You could probably pick up an entire engine for that price. Remember that 289 and 302 are the same block. Unless I could inspect it in person, I believe I would stay away from it. Plus, it has that chip out of it, and the shipping would cost a lot. That's just my opinion though.

I thought that the difference between the 289 and 302 was that the 302 had a longer stroke than the 289.

An "owweee"!

That "owee" is the mounting boss for the timing cover at the water jacket. Now a competent machinest can fix it, but what other kind of stress did the block indure when it got this "owwee"?

Just something to think about.

BTW: why do you want to put an old 289 block in a '99 V6? Not only is emissions going to be a real nightmare (if you had to ask the question on this block, you ain't got a hope in hell of tackling that!) but a Modular will do so much more.

I must be missing something?
