Question Got my 65 fastback roof!

Hi everyone,

I bought a 65/66 fastback roof from a donor car and had it shipped to my house. I plan to use it for a coupe to fastback conversion although I don't have the coupe yet!

Question - As you can see in the picture it has a lot of surface rust on the inside of the roof. The outside is good. I imagine the best thing is to sandblast it? I don't have a sandblaster though. I imagine sanding by hand would be too much. Any suggestions? Can I rent a sandblaster like at Home Depot?

Thanks,

Warren

Actually while searching for a solution I read where people used chemicals to remove the rust. I read about one called Rust Bomb that is a gel but the company does not make it anymore but has others. Would this be a better answer? I can do this myself. Will it remove the rust all the way with enough coats?

You might look into having it acid dipped. Improper blast media type, tip size, air pressure and operator experiance can warp the panel. If you haven't the experiance paying someone else with experiance may be a better option.
