Default NO timing pointer

The motor is a late model 302, (roller block). There is no pointer on the cover. Would this work?

Thanks, I figured that, but would still love a picture just to make sure. This motor and car for that matter is new to me and I dont have all the facts.

ON this note, the balancer bolt is in the crank without the balancer. HOW can I get the bolt off? does the starter trick work with a late model 302?

yeah you can put a breaker bar on the frame rail and turn it over to break the bolt loose. the late model engine has the same rotation as the vintage 289/302's

here is a pic not the exact pointer but similar...

is the oil pan on?? what about the timing cover? anything you can do to keep the engine from turning over will let you break that bolt loose. you dont have any top post batteries in another car/truck you can pirate for a few mins?
