17"
I think 17" American Racing Torque Thrust II's would look sweet on my 69 Mustang Coupe. I talked to a guy that did it on his coupe without any modifications except lowering his Mustang an inch. It looked sweet. Was wondering anybody has done this.
Funny thing you mentioned this, I plan on getting these same rims like in late Dec. the polished alluminum ones, I am gonna go with the Yokohama Avid H4s 235/45/17, I also emptied out the airshocks to give it more of a flat stance, yes this trend with big rims and a flat stance seems to be the new school look, and I am digging it.
Here is a site that shows a stang with the same rims/tires I listed above, it looks great. The rims are 17X8 what I will be going with as well.

I have 15x7 Torq Thrust II's on the front and 16x8 on the rear of my 67. I am not using a low profile tire, but I did have to air up my rear shocks. The fronts seem to be clearing ok, but I shredded the driver side rear tire with the "new school" look. I think that if I pounded in the inside of the wheel well, I could lower the car again cuz it did look better low.
I have 17" x 7" Boyd Coddington Smoothie's on my 1966 Fastback. I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 235/45R17 on the rear and 225/45R17 on the front with no problems at all so you should be fine. My car is at the stock ride height.
