Default Is it a good model??

I just got a 1971 Mustang Grande coupe for $1,500 and i was wondering if it's worth fixing or not? Cause I've been getting some negative reactions to the fact that it's a Grande. :/

If you like it jump on it. Look it over really good and see whats involved in the restore, then make a decision. Also consider the options the car has or doesn't-PS, PB, AC, V8. I would also Google some pictures of restored cars to see how they turned out.

Bottom line is what you like, not other peoples opinions.

Grandes are nice cars. I owned one briefly but had to sell it or the fastback so...

The Grandes are the luxury Mustangs and often come very well equipped. The one I had had a Cleveland, upgraded seats, AC, PS, PB, tilt steering, AM/FM, color keyed bumpers and even had PW. It rode like a dream compared to the earlier mustangs.

If you dig it then rock on and anybody who gives you flack about it just tell 'em...

Thanks, I really do like it and I do want to restore it as best as I can. It's not in bad conditions. But I do need a new engine, but I haven't found one so far.

Although they are not one of the more "desired" years/styles of Mustang, they are pretty rare to see in a restored state! Good luck with your project!

My first car was a 69 coupe, not a Grande but I really liked that car.

FWIW it turns out they can be slid down the highway on the roof, ask me how I know.

The 71-73 mustangs are the red headed step child of the early mustangs,But to people like me and some on here we love every year.If the car don't have huge rust holes or half the car missing i would have bought it already.Rust is the big killer of these cars the cowl vent is a nasty one that's hard to see tell it leaks. When you open the hood there is some vent holes on the firewall by the wipers look down in those really good for rust. The cowl vent and doors are two big pieces that are not remade in the aftermarket yet so look those over for rust good. And crawl under the car look at the floor pan the frame rails front and back for rust.On the engine your wallet is the only limit you can fit a big block in it easy but most of us stick to a small block.
