289 vacuum lines and hoses
i cant post attachments so i will try to describe the parts i am talking about as best i can
Basically i have a 289 engine that i am rebuilding and will eventually put into a car once i get the shell for it. I have no idea where any of the hoses go, other than the 2 radiator hoses.
1. There is a third outlet on the water pump. it is a small pipe. Where does this route to?
2. Behind the carburetor there is a metal fitting with 5 outlets on it. I know these are vacuum lines. Where do they all go?
3. Right above the thermostat housing is another metal pipe. Where does this go?
Thanks. And i will try to post links to another forum if i can get pictures up on them.

Here are the pictures of what i am talking about.

Your pictures are too small but I'll give it a go.
The small outlet I think you pictured looks like it is the one for your heater hose.
The stack of vacuum lines don't 'need' to go anywhere. Just hook them up as needed. I use mine for a vacuum gauge and the transmission.
The metal pipe on top of the intake manifold is for your other heater hose.

You know, I hate to sound harsh but weren't these questions answered at that other site?
The upper small nipple on the water pump is for the bypass hose, lower end.
The lower small nipple on the pump is for the heater hose (heater core return).
The big one is obviously for the lower radiator hose.
The small nipple on the thermostat housing is for the bypass hose (upper end).
The large one is for the upper radiator hose.
The water pipe nipple on the intake manifold is for the other heater hose (heater core supply).
The connections for vacuum will depend entirely on what you install the engine into. My '66 has NO vacuum connections except to the choke pull-off, since I have a manual transmission and non-power brakes.
Don't over-think this. Tape all the openings while the engine is in storage and figure these things out when you get a car to put it in. And then, buy a Factory Service Manual to help with the hookups.
