Default It just stopped?

The other night I was out with my Mustang ('70 302) all original. as I was driving it just stopped firing, at least that's what I can tell. it still cranks, still has fuel pressure. all i came up with was there was no spark at coil..replaced coil. still nothing. all help would be much appriciated..

Thanks

Also I checked the forums couldn't find anything that was remotly similar since I already replaced the coil.

Do you have spark at the points? Do you have power at the positive side of the coil

What type of ignition system do you have, ie, points, pertronix, Mallory unilite, etc?

I'll bet dimes to doughnuts something electrical came undone.

Check all your connections.

Take the Dist cap off and crank the engine you are looking for the dist rotor to rotate. I suspect you lost your primary ignition system as when the starter is engaged the starter relay sends 12 Vdc directly to the coil and it would start until the key is released from start. From there it's either points and cond adjust or a new electronic module/wiring checks.

I'm stumped at this point - I've done everything mentioned. everything checks out.
it just doesn't fire. cranks, dist. rotor rotates. power everywhere.

If you remove the coil wire from the top of the distributor cap and place it near a good ground do you get a spark to jump from the coil wire to the ground?

Yep Guns right - let's start at the easiest place.
Spark or no spark.
no spark - turn the key to on and use a test light or DVM and check for voltage to the coil + side. it should be 9 Vdc or above ( or light is on)
do the same to the coil - terminal while cranking the car the light should pulse no pulse the points are not opening and closing or the condenser is shorted.

o.k. here we go.

No Spark. replaced coil, replaced pick-up. no condenser, so that's not it. no points. Tested with test light and ohm meter, positive side of coil has power (9.3 Vdc)

Has an electronic Ignition.. Not the fuel pump, you can smell the gas when trying to start it.

It is not firing, why? that's the question that has me stumped.
Rotor, cap and wires are all new in July.

next step?
