I'm a novice muscle car buyer. At this point I'm a bit of a researcher but found a car I like which looks to have had some mods done to the engine.

What do you think of this setup? Anything I should be aware of?

289 engine bored .030 over with a Holley 4BBL carb and a rebuilt automatic transmission with B&M Shifter. Crane 280 cam kit. Chevlite bearings, Milidon oil pump, SVO pump shaft, Moroso double roller timing chain, Weiand intake, Flow-Tech headers, Walker mufflers and 4 row radiators. Advertised as a "hipo" engine, but I don't think it's an actual hipo...I think the owner is just calling it that due to the customization. But, I guess it could be, and I know how to check for that. (ie - engine code "K" in the VIN)

Any guesses as the hp in something like this? Does the HiPo designation really matter?

Lotsa bling but not much zing. Truthfully, you probably still won't have 300 horses at the rear wheels, maybe not even at the flywheel.

Thanks for the reply. After driving it today - I think I agree with you. However, it still was damn fun to drive!

I bought it. I think it was priced below value. So, I'm excited to be taking possession in a few days of my first Mustang!

I will have my uncle (mechanic) fix this thing into a Detroit Street Beast. I'm pumped.
