The 302 got a roller cam in 1985, but they still made the non roller at the same time for applications like trucks and cars other than the Mustang 5.0 HO.

Thanks for the reply, so what are the pro's and con's of a roller vs. a non-roller?

Less Friction is the pro, you have a lifter with a roller on the bottom, not a flat bottom lifter. Also, the cam profile can allow the valves to open and close faster because the roller allows for it, compared to a flat lifter.
Con-cost, steel cam and roller lifters cost more.
