Default Engine builders in NJ?

Hey all,

So just got my bonus from work and you know what that means... TIME TO SPEND IT!!! haha I am looking to have a 347 stroker built for my 66.. All said and done I would like to come close to the 500hp mark as a good street/strip engine. My questions are...

Does anyone from NJ know of reputable speed shops? I'm off of exit 117 on the parkway, and don't want to have to travel too far for a good build. There is a shop by me called "no limit performance" that will build the engine. Anyone heard of it?

What should I be looking to spend? I was hoping it could come in around the $6500 mark.

How do I know I'm getting quality work and quality internals? What should I be looking for as far as rods, pistons, lifters, heads, etc....

All in all I've never been through this process and any and all help is GREATLY appreciated...

Thanks
Mike

He's south of you, in Medford, but Jerry Glenn at Medford Speed has been around a long time with a great reputation. 609-801-0808. He built my 331 with no issues. Is rebuilding a 66 GT350 engine as we speak plus another 289 and a 260. Shop slants towards Chevy but thats the way of the racing world. Small shop, do not let looks decieve you. He's probably getting busy this time of year with racing season on the horizon. Good luck!

BTW, the 331 was 6k including the dyno tuning. Jerry supplied the block, I supplied the heads, intake, carb, manifolds and timing cover. Jerry will provide recommendations on manufacturers for internals, will also build to suit but he will put his 2 cents in, common sense wise....

Hey thanks for the advice, I will definitley check him out! Was that $6,000 all said and done? Including what you paid on your end for the heads and everything?

The heads and other stuff I lifted from the blown 289 that was in the car. Whom ever you choose, good luck with the build. 500hp from a 347 is way up there. No pump gas for you!

Why not buy a short block from Woody at Fordstrokers. I have only heard good things about his builds.
