How difficult or risky is the job? I know some guys who do welding and body work, but I don't think it will be within my means to truck the body over to a specialist, unless I get lucky and find one nearby.

Honestly if I was just doing a floor on a car without needing to fix toe boards or transition edges I think I could do a one piece in a few weekends.

Contrary to what you may hear a hard top car does not need temporary bracing welded in place if the rockers are good, just make sure you have at least six jack stands spread around to prevent twisting.

Popping holes in the new metal and welding the thing in is really novice level stuff, but it does require some common sense in how to take apart a car and put it back together.

I had never done anything like this before, but I wanted a car as close to perfect as I could get and new I could not afford to buy one.
