Default Transmission whine

My T5 just started whining pretty bad yesterday. What could it be. It is in harmony with the vehicle speed/ rpms. It does go away with the clutch in.

It is worst in 5th gear. is not there at all in 4th gear. However 1-3 is pretty consistant.

It reminds me of the sound of a mid 80s toyota pick up in reverse.

is it the pilot shaft bearing?

Check the fluid level. How long has it been since it was serviced? Whats the history of the trans, rebuilt, etc?

It was used when i put it in. However everything was in great shape and it sill shifts perfect. I replaced the fluid when I installed it. I have about 15k miles on it and this just started.
