Default What happened to my engine? *Video*

Hello everyone,

After a spirited drive tonight my engine made a sudden clicking noise and shut off. After pulling over and checking things out the sound seems to be coming straight out of the intake which makes me think the top end of my engine went out. Did I drop a valve?

Prior to this there has been a slight tick coming from my engine which I thought may have been a valve issue but was also thinking it could be my fuel pump. However, I'm still getting fuel so it's now clear that it wasn't my fuel pump. Is it possible I had an issue in my valve train and now I lost a valve?

Below is a video I took just after I broke down. Luckily I was right across the street from my final destination so I was able to limp it home after I boosted the idle up so it wouldn't shut off. Please let me know what you think the issue is so I can fix everything. Thanks!

Edit: Engine details: 3512w, edelbrock 650cfm, mild cam, stock heads, edelbrock performer intake, long tube headers, fmx tansmission

Could be valve, or blown head gasket, hole in the piston....won't know till it comes apart.

My vote is broken pushrod or rocker arm. Let us know when you find out.

It sounds like air and I'm not hearing metal on metal. It sounded to me almost like a spark plug blew out. What does your vacuum gauge read?

First think I'd do is pop the valve covers, disconnect the coil and turn the engine over and see what's going 'round & 'round & up & down and what isn't.

sounds like a plug is missing to me as well...Im pretty sure its not a rocker, lifter or pushrod at least not primary. You might have failed rocker, bent pushrod and improper rocker lash secondary to valve failure.

If all the plugs are in place valve covers come off and check it out.

Interesting thought about loosing a spark plug. I will definitely check them first before I pull the covers or anything else. That would be a much easier fix...

I had to go out of town on business so I won't be able to check anything until the weekend. I will keep you all posted, thanks for the feedback!
