T-10 Trans Problem
I am rebuilding what I believe is a BW Super T10, as it has features of both a T10 and a Super T10. After assembling the main case with the input, counter and main (output) shaft, and then assembling the tail housing and reverse gear to the main case, the reverse idler gear is slightly clashing teeth with first gear.
The mainshaft has .011" endplay as measured by a dial indicator on the rear bearing. With the reverse gear thrust washer on the inside of the main case removed there is .024" between the reverse idler gear and first gear. Assembled with thrust washers on both ends of the reverse idler, the endplay looks about right, although I didn't measure it -- the idler gear in the tail housing just clears the midplate bolt head.
What did I do wrong? Is first gear to far forward?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
