I'm not sure what model that would be from. Not saying that it didn't but I can't remember a Mustang with a hood ornament.

"A perfect restoration project" Maybe south of the border. This was NEVER a factory mustang item! I grew up one town over from where this seller is from. I imagine there are a few cars running around with these on the hood right next to the big air horns.

I bought a 66 conv this summer with that hood ornament on it. The seller (who was not the original purchaser) said it was a dealer-available option...does that sound accurate? Frankly, I didn't think it looked that bad until a couple of purists questioned it. It stays on until I can fill the holes and repaint!

There were a lot of dealer options back then, as we could virtually build our own cars from scratch from the factory to the dealer, but that hood ornament option is not one I am aware of. My 65 came with a trunk luggage rack, but it was taken off and the holes filled during the restoration process. Again, I have never seen a hood ornament on a 65 Mustang, but that is not to say there weren't any. Just rare as hen's teeth if there were some.

Looks like something you'd get from Manny, Moe, Jack, and Off.

Nice touch for a pimpin Stang...

It was a original option back then so yes it was original as a matter of fact my dad bought one and added it to his mustang. Another rare but awesome option from the time was a light up mustang emblem for the front corral and a whinney horn that neyyed when you honked it. These were all original options.
