I've ran doug thorley on several of my cars, running tri-y's, and love em. So far, no issues, but I haven't put in the R&P yet. Also running a C4. These are very good headers and very well made. Have never,....never...had an exhaust leak.

FINALLY11111 I knew that sooner or later, I would find someone running headers who has not experienced a leak. You are to be congratulated.
Best,

Good headers have thick flanges, and if you use good gaskets they won't leak at the heads. I like ball/socket flanges like on JBA etc, which is what OEM uses. It's basically a compression fitting that uses no gasket, they only leak if they're too loose or damaged.

I have a 66 289, T5, Hydraulic Clutch, stock heads, Cobra 4bbl intake, Holley 650 HP Street Mechanical secondary's, 3.55 rears and going to put in a rack and pinion not sure if it will power steering yet, my Hydraulic cam has a Cam Lift .288 Int/Exh. Valve Lift .460 int/exh. Advanced Duration 288 Int/exh. and .050 duration 218 Int/exh. I have lowered the car by about 1 to 1.5" in front and love low end torque but want to be able to have some power at top end. I have a 13 GT for top end fun. I would like to know the best header for my application. Brand style (Shorties, Tri-Y or LT).

these are the best for yoir app and are killer headers for the money . . super thick 14 gauge tubes and 3/8" thick flange.

you can use remflex gaskets with them . . paper gaskets suck.

Patriot Tri-Y's are great bang for the buck $327 (ceramic coated) or uncoated $216, However the fit on both is hit or miss, like flipping a coin, out of the box.

Uncoated will heat up the engine bay considerably more than ceramic coated, but if you want to customize the fit (clearance certain areas) that is the way to go them mail them off to get ceramic coated (JetHot, etc) after your done clearancing them.

Don't forget the drop bracket for PS cylinder if you run PS.
