Vacuum Source ???

Vacuum Source ???
I have a Holley 550 CFM 4 BBL with vacuum operated secondaries.
I've tried connecting the vacuum line for the secondary unit to the nipple beside the Electric choke housing, but that just increases my idle speed to about 3,000 RPM.
"T"eeing into the distributor vacuum line results in the secondaries cutting in at ANY accelerator pressure (even the very lightest touch).
Can anyone tell me where I should connect this vacuum unit, to obtain smooth, and mild secondary operation, under mild acceleration.
Any advise will be welcomed, since I don't have a lot of hair left to pull out.
