Default Update on Christine

Hi all,

I haven't been here for a while so wanted to drop a quick post and let you all know that Christine seems to be doing better. The hubby pulled the distributor out to check the teeth on it and the cam (?) and when he put it back in started it up but didn't drive it far. It sat like that for a week and when he got in on Saturday drove her to town to wash her...and she runs better! What the heck?!!

LOL, we don't know why, but she seems to be running better. we still have a slight hesitation at the top of second gear, (between 30and40) but the majority of it is gone. I can cruise at 60-65 with a slight hesitation every once in a while but not like it was.

So, whadda ya think?

i would still assume that the timing is off by just a little. You say it hesitats at 30to40 so its off by a few degress still. It could also be that, if you adjusted you rockers at anytime, that they arent correctly spaced and is giving out in that range. Whatever the case, if you have a stock cam, put the timing light up to it and check the timing. It is possible the advance it a couple degrees over and get some beter results.

Joe,
She has had this problem for awhile now. We have gone through all the tech stuff to get the hesistation out. Carb, timing, timing chain. You name it. This one is a mystery.

no mustang is a lemon, or comes in that flavor. I wasnt all sure on the history of the car, but kkep in mind dont ever give up on it. I had a really bad hesitation problem with my 289 but after a year of dinking around trying to figure it out, it was just a bad vaccum advance on the dizzy. Since you have gone through all the major things, look into the little things now. I guess that makes no sense if yuove already done that but im stumped....

Yeah, I am convinced it is just something that needs to be tweaked, but I am definitely not giving up on her. Thanks for the reply
