Default 408 distributor issue

Hey guys trying to install my new jegs distributor getting ready for the initial fire up of my 351w. For some reason the distributor (the top flange apart the second Oring) is hitting the block. Right before it steps down to where the distributor should be resting. Not trying to for it. Pictures to come soon. Not sure if it's an over casting on the block. Poor machining on the distributor shaft. Either way it's the only thing holding me up from firing this pig up... And that's driving me crazy

Looking at your second picture, it looks like the collar on the distributor is hitting the block. Is this the case or is it just a funky angle of the picture?

Usually when I've had the distributor not want to seat correctly, I back it off a tooth until it drops.

Yes the collar is hitting the block. That's the real issue

What's the diameter of the collar?

My MSD collar is around 1.75" by eyeball w/o removing it and it fits nicely in the block cutout.

Had someone measure it. It's roughly 1 7/8 inch

send it back. Get a replacement.

Check model number and confirm they sent you the right part first

that is likely a chinese pos . . buy a real distributor . . the pertronox is a decent unit and reasonably priced.
