I still like my classic AR Torque Thrust but I think that given to do over again, I'd go with Magnum 500's.

Based on discussion thus far I thought these were going on a 69 thought maybe you had another car ...but based on picture it is on 65/6

I had a 245 40 17 on my 65 with a 17x8 and 4.75 wheel. I needed to run -1.5 camber to make it all work along with shelby a arm drop for the improve camber curve and a heim joint strut rod to remove the bushing deflection you can get with an original style strut. A 245 45 17 would not have fit. Ran hard on the street for 4-5 like that.

I have run a 235 45 17 on a 65 with a 17x8 and 4.75 wheel with -0.5 camber without issues for 5-6 years as well. My 65 also does not have the front fender lips rolled

Yes its for a 66 with all 4 fenders rolled

It sounds like the 245 in the front maybe pushing my luck. It seems that a 235/45 in the front and a 245/45 in the rear is the way to go and a 4.75BS is required.

Now the problem is most if not all of the wheels I have looked at so far are 4.5BS...pretty much everything American Racing sells is 4.5.

Where are you guys finding 4.75BS?

Just a thought...
If you can't find what backspace that you want are you going to be upgrading the rear axle anytime soon?
For my car I plan on buying the tires that will fit into my roller fender lip wheel wells and then have a 9 inch rear axle cut to fit properly. I know its a bit backwards but that is how I'm going to do it as it's one method that's available to me.

It will be tough finding wheels in 4.75" backspace. I think they look/fit better than 4.5" backspace for a 8" wide wheel too. I'm running 05 GT wheels and right now I'm using 1.5" wheel adapters. 235/45/17 but I'm pretty sure next time I will upsize to 245's

I found these!

VN215 Classic Torq Thrust II 1-Piece

They are available in 17x8 with 4.81 BS which I think maybe even better than 4.75 I would run those in the front with a 235/45

Now the rear appears to have more distance to move into I could run a 17x8 with a 5.48 BS but maybe I would be better off with the 4.81 all the way around....

at least I found a pre built wheel that looks okay with a usable BS

Well....take some close measurements...because with MORE bs you have to start worrying about running into the upper a arm.....but that is just a tiny bit....

Use the same all the way around if they rims are the same width. The TTii wheel is a popular 5 spoke choice and used to be advertised as 4.75...maybe they started making them slightly different

There are others out there. Here's one that I've bought and used on my 68...I went with all chrome though

Also....you have your lips rolled already....that plus a little extra camber if needed and you can usually make the 4.5 wheels work. Some people frown on this but realistically how many miles are you doing a year? I change the tires on my 65 in the front every 4-5 yr and they have never had a problem with heavy cutting using the -1.5 camber. I worry more about dry rot than wearing them out prematurely. I burn through rear tires almost once a year

I know that i cant run 5.48 bs in the front.

The idea of going with a 5.48 in the rear is that there is a good possibility that it may allow me to run a wider tire in the rear because of the close tolerance between the tire and the outer fender..
