65 Automatic Questions
I have a 65 Mustang V8 Automatic and want to upgrade the shifter.
I am considering a B&M on one model or the other. Primarily because I have the C4 now and my swap in a AOD later and many of the B&Ms offer a kit to adapt to an AOD.
Here are my questions.
In 65 and 66 the automatics are considered C4s but the shifter is slightly different. Instead of later year C4 shifters with L 2 D N R P
you have 1 D 2/3 N R P
Will the aftermarket shifters work with the ealy C4s? Example is will the drive detent be in correct position? Also if getting a gate or s quick shifter will it work for slamming 1 2 and 3 for racing applications. I am not racing the car but like that type of shifter for nostalgia and performance driving around.
Anyone upgrade their shifter on a stock automatic 65 66 application? What did you use and what were your results?
