Default Back on the road!!!

I realize that this isn't a tech question, but I'm so excited because I just got my '66 coupe tagged today. The tags expired in June, and I only have been driving it around the neighborhood until I could figure out what was draining down my battery and causing the turn signals to wig-out. One problem was causing both - the wiring harness coming out of the steering column got pinched by the emergency brake. The turn signals are still intermittant, but are working most of the time (I think there's a bad connection in the plug). It's so nice to have the car legal again! It is literally a one-owner car (my dad is still on the title with me), and I grew up with it as my first car when I got my license. Not bragging or anything - just happy!!!

lol. ya I prefer the REAL oldschool mustang. I dont like thes 05-06 mustangs that try to look oldschool and fail badly. I'm sure they are good reliable cars though.

I was just ragging on you Bill. I hope you take no offense. The turn signal problem is a minor problem to fix. Post what you have done to resolve the problem.

I am with you TYler. I love the look of the new stangs. SO much so I am watching for an 06 GT to come available around here. I have all the dealers watching for one with low miles. I think it would be so awesome to drive the 66 one day and the 06 the next. You have to admit, Ford certainly created an entirely new desire to own the early stangs with the production of hte new old body style.

You sound like someone else recreated (other than ford) the mustang. If ford wanted them to look completly like the old style then they would have. I like how they mixed old with new.

None taken, but thanks for clarifying. The intermittant blinkers seem to be coming from the plug for the turn signal harness (the one that comes out of the steering column). Wiggling it causes the system to work. The horn is also tempermental, but that's a minor inconvenience.

I must say, the new Mustangs are great cars. The Oh Five is a keeper, although it would go in a fire sale before the '66 (which wouldn't be sold anyway ). I love 'em both for different reasons. Ford did a great job with the new cars, but lousy when it comes to building an adequate supply of them. It is ridiculous for some dealers to ask for anything above sticker, and some folks got burned when they ordered 05's and wound up waiting on 06's. That type of customer service (at the dealer) doesn't help when the company stock is below $10/share.

I agree. When the 03 Mach's came out, only a few dealers got one. Fortunately, the dealer that I bought mine from is a family member, so I got first dibs. However, I paid sticker price for it. It was advertised by Ford that the 03 Mach1 would not be produced again, making it a one-of-a-kind car. Well, guess what? They turned around and came out with an 04 Mach1.

My mom had an 03 mach1 but she never let me drive it and she never let me work on it...boo hoo...but it was a nice car until a tree jumped out in front of her and about made me cry...just expressing my opinion but I don't like the new mustang...the classic mustang was never meant to look retro and I think it looks dumb but that's just my opinion...I have never been in one or driven one.
