Default '65 200ci

Hello,

I purchased a '65 Mustang for my nephew and am tinkering on it until he is old enough to work on it. It has the 200ci I6 in it. The guy that had it prior was trying to dress up the car with chrome parts. One of those parts was the valve cover. The new valve cover has a cutout for the oil cap and another item. I thought PCV but since the original didn't have this, I then thought maybe an oil breather. Any advice? Just trying to get it all back together to see if I can get it running. Thanks in advance!

Also, I did several searches and didn't find any previous threads with the tags. Sorry if it's a repost.

Cheers,

Robb

There is the big hole in the front, for the oil breather cap

Towards the back of the valve cover is another hole, for the PCV.

I loved those removable tower braces! Ease of swinging a V-8. Believe my early Falcons had them welded in. imp

Okay, so my PCV runs to a fitting on the passenger side of the carb? I did a little snooping around yesterday and didn't see anything that my hose will attach to. I'll take another look. Thanks for you help!

Not sure but some of those connected to a spacer plate under the carb. If that is the case, your's could be missing.

Friend of mine on Stangnet sent me this pic with the adapter plate;

So, I've been busy working on my other car. Just got around to looking at the Mustang again. No place on the carb spacer to put a PCV hose. Should I just put the old valve cover back on? Or can I just cover the PCV hole? I really enjoy how easy old cars are at times but the lack of documentation kills me. I can't find any reference materials on the 200 ci engine. Sometimes, I wish it had the 289.

the crankcase needs ventilation, so you do need the PCV. unless it has a road draft tube, but I don't think any '65's had those. Can you take a few pix of your carb. and manifold?

My '65 "K" car had a draft tube, no PCV, ordered car Aug. 1964, took 4 weeks to get it. The 289 H.P. package cost $440 extra! VIN 5F07K284486.

One of the all-round best cars I've ever had! imp
