Default Rarity?

Hi,
I am able to pick up a 1965 Mustang, 289 4speed with the Pony interior. The interior is near mint condition. Ive read that only 5% of the 65's sold came with this interior.

Is this an accurate number? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'd debating keeping the car original or modifying it. Rarity and value will sway me.

If the interior is original and near mint then it should smell right. Does it smell right?

I was able to get a stat sheet from them for my 2011. ( $ 60.00 )
They break down the MY using your VIN, can tell you how many cars like yours were built.
My 11 turned out to be " 1 of 2 ".
When they become available, I will send for one for my 14..

I have one. Vintage Burgundy 1965 Mustang with Palomino Deluxe Pony Interior. I hear they are very rare. At some point, someone replaced the 1965 GT instrument cluster with a 1966. The 1966 doesn't have a loop ammeter. Had a hard time finding a replacement at a reasonable price. It only had three previous owners with a car dealer being one. One of the previous owners butchered all the wiring harnesses and it was a pain to figure out the correct harnesses to purchase.

It has a 4 bbl carb which isn't original. I found installation instructions stuffed under the carpet for a 4 bbl conversion kit. The kit included the carb and intake manifold.

The engine code is correct for a 65 Mustang but the valve covers are black. Not sure why.

Unfortunately, it had a lot of rust despite spending its time in SC so I'd going a complete restoration. I had to replace the floor pans, quarters, seat pans, trunk drop offs and trunk brace due to rust. Other sheet metal had to be replaced due to collision damage.

Someone also replace the seat covers and door panels with white and painted everything inside burgundy. I'm not a fan of palomino so I plan on going all black inside. I'm either going to go burgundy exterior or I might go green with envy to match my challenger.
