67 vs 68 bucket seat frames
Are the 67 and 68 bucket seat frames identical? I ask because one of the aftermarket companies makes new seat covers and foam for 67 that have a lot of thigh and torso padding for support when cornering. They don't make them for 68. So I'd buy 68 frames and mount their 67 foam and covers. I suppose the other question would be if the 67 frame would bolt right into my 68. Thanks.
You would think so, but you are right about the aftermarket guys only offering them in the 67. I might suggest you go to the top and click on FAQ, then where to find parts and search there. The 67 and 68 are almost identical cars, so can't imagine them changing the bolt pattern to mount the seats in the floor. But hey, I have been wrong before.
I believe they were different. According to the Mustand Red Book, by Peter C. Sessler, the 68s had a locking mechanism to keep the seat up right and the 67s did not. Also there was a different tweed lower seat material with seat bun that the author mentions.
I am with Glen I would be really surprised if they changed the bolt pattern.

actually 68 seats are very diiferent in that the 68 did in fact have more foam in place to make more comfort.frames are the same, it is true that they put in the locking mechanisms for govt safety reasons (same reason why 68 was the first years for shoulder harnesses seatbelts) but for the bolt pattern, there is no difference...
