Hey guys where should i put the jack on the front end? If i put it on the frame then it just stretches the coil.
I am buying my carburetor tomorrow. [8D]

Are you trying to take the tire off? If so, I usually put it under the lower control arm, with much care for placement. Also, dont forget your jack stands.

And by "coil" do you mean spring?

yes, put the stands on something extremely solid like the frame rails. make sure they are firmly planted too....

You typically don't need to raise the front end when replacing the carb.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Nah, put the jack on the front bumper, but be sure you call your life insurance company to make sure you have a beneficiary named. Seriously though, if you are going to be upgrading your brakes to disc, then you won't want jack stands in the way of any front components. Just place them on the frame rails. Your coil springs will relax, but that' OK. That is what you want them to do. I would also suggest putting two jack stands on the rear of the car, that way, the car is level. I used 6 stands when I replaced my rear leaf springs. Two up front, two in the middle, and two in the rear. It was solid as a rock, and I was never in any danger. I also left the floor jack almost touching in the front just in case, but it turned out to not be necessary. So, I moved it under the pumpkin to help with the leaf spring installation.

As an aside, can anyone point me to where I can get a repo or NOS jack for my 66' Convertible? I found them listed at John's Mustang, but they're listed as N/A. I want to get one before spring, no car shows left this fall.

Many thanks,

TOm
