Default which manual trans

I have a 66 with a 347. I just had a 3rd t5 grenade. This last one is from Modern Driveline which I ordered new. It was rated at 500hp but didnt last long even though I only have street tires. I want a manual with OD. what is the best way to go.

Thanks
B

How much power are you pushing and what is your driving style? When you say grenade, what exactly is happening, like what parts are breaking? Same ones every time or different things?

It has had a bad vibration for about 6 months I couldnt find. Then the ither night O shifted under hard throttle into 3rd and heard a big bang... now there id a lot of noice comi g from the trans. Banging and clunking and it gets hung up and binds.

The last 2 times I blew up 2nd gear. Those units were mustang swaps, this newest one was built for my car. engine Dyno says 440hp 400 ftlbs
i have not opened it up yet but will be next week.

bad vibration - did you feel it in the seat of the steering wheel? In the seat could be a bad tranny mount or driveline (drive shaft/axle) issue. If you're using poly mounts for the engine and transmission, vibration is normal but not always best for longevity. Poly mounts put more stress on the tranny since there's less shock absorption for hard shifts.

I checked out Modern Driveline. The only thing I could find was a transmission rated to 450hp and 330tq. 2nd gear blowing out would make sense since that gets hit the hardest under full throttle.

The TKX is the latest and greatest in a compact housing. That's the way to go.

The TKX is very interesting I did not know about this.
Is it the same dimensions as a 93 T5? from a fox body? whats required to make it fit where the T5 went?

The bell housings are different and the input spline is 26 vs 10. If you google TKX vs T5 you will see some videos explaining the differences.
