Default RE: C4 Problem

Put the car in an open area with level ground, start it and let it idle untill its warm. Check the trans fluid, if it isnt on the dipstick at all, add 1 quart and wait for it to dain in. Give it about 30 seconds and check it again. if it is on the stick, put in pints. If its in the hashmarked area (if your stick has that) its a pint or less low.

Once the level is ok, and its warm, put the selctor in reverse while holding the brake. Do not rev the engine, just let it idle in reverse. Give it about 30-40 seconds, if nothing has happened, give it just a little gas. Like 2000 rpm.

If it does move, put it in neutrual, then after about 15 seconds put it in LOW 1, (the lowest gear) not D. When it starts to move, get it going a bit if you have room and shift to 2nd. then 3rd. If it doesnt work after all that, it either burned when you tried to move it without enough fluid, or the seals are now so hard they split while sitting dry and it needs rebuilt.

Thank you all for the great advice. I am off tomorrow and will check it out. I believe you may be correct about low fluid level.
