1969 with a 460
Ive got a 69 sportsroof with a 460 dove under the hood which creates abit of a problem with clearance. Soon ill be installing CJ valves. Ive got a boss9 hoodscoop but I still need to loose about an inch just to get the hood to fit. Im currently using a weiand stealth intake and am thinking of changing it out to lower the Holley 750VS carb down in order to get the hood to fit. Ive already changed the air cleaner to a drop style and still need clearance. Any suggestions?

Have you tried one of those very small circle air cleaners? Can you get the hood to fit with no air cleaner at all? Most likely your going to have to change the intake though.

Thanks for the replies. The hood is cut and the boss9 scoop is mounted on. The hood will shut with no air cleaner on and the stud for the air cleaner removed, unfortunately I still need an inch or so even with the drop style aircleaner. In reply to stansrda****...the engine already puts out 525bhp and 600 for torque, and the rear has trouble sticking if you punch it. With a blower I probably wouldnt get any traction short of putting slicks on.
