Default 67 mustang production numbers

I've got a 1967 mustang convertible with luxury interior. Based on my findings on the Internet, Ford made 4,848 of these. But my car is also an S code. Is there any definitive way to determine how many of these exist?

One more question. My car has been repainted a different color and the original motor has been swapped out. How worth while is it for me to find another 390 and to repaint it the original color?

Thanks in advance.

Damn, thats a nice car. My dad has a 67 Convertible, with 289 4v and the 4 speed toploader. he has alot of goodies, like tilt wheel, power steering, Factory AC, and the turn signal hood. All i can say is S codes were rare anyways, and it being a vert, is even more rare. And i just read that the original motor has been swapped out. Thats sucks. You might find one in a junkyard. Just look in the old trucks, and you'll find a 390 somewhere.

This won't give you info on your specific car, but it has some production numbers:

Very cool car. In 1967 there were 106 S-code 4-speed convertibles made & 2,075 automatics. Being that rare, I believe it would be worthwile to search for a correct date coded 390 block & take the car back to as original as possible.

I agree, the reason Ford didnt build too many Big block cars in conv. was due the fact that the front ends on mustangs arent terrribly strong, and stuff a heavy motor in it, it makes for poor handling and braking performance. My dad used to have a 681/2 428 cj conv, that only 12 were made, u can see why. I agree with these guys, its not a too common car, so try and find a correct date coded 390 for it, and do u know if its a GT? If not, i dont think there are too many non GT big blocks out there

You are partly right. They stuffed 428's in the shelbys, just forget to tell your brother the shelby part.
