Just a couple quick questions
Good afternoon/evening. I'm extremely new at this and want to be able to get the most out of my '67 coupe resto. I've recently purchased a '67 coupe from a friend. Numbers are matching on the engine and trans. Both have already been rebuilt and run great, but the 289 has been bored out to 302 and a 4 barrel Holley carb as well as some other extras have been added. I know that it originally came with a 2V carb. First question: What engine/trans upgrades are acceptable to perform without losing the resto's integrity and value? In fact, what mods are considered to be show acceptable?
Also, the code says that the original color was lime gold. It also came with a black vinyl top and black interior. I HATE this color shceme. I would like to paint it Candy Apple Red with a white vinyl top and red/white interior. Is the original color scheme that important to a resto, am I better off taking it back to the original colors?
My real question is: Would this '67 be better off restored to "daily driver" condition or "show" condition? ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED - THANKS!!!!!

Do what you want! What do you mean show acceptable? In Concours the car must be PERFECT and all original. Resto mod is pretty much anything you want to do. I think you are a bit out of the way for a concours now unless you want to spend a lot of money. Enjoy thr car the way you want! Restore it to daily driver if you plan on driving it.
if it was a 64.5 then i would say to go all the way original, but being a 67 I would restomod it...
you are already a great deal of time and money away from concours so build it to suit your needs
my car is basicly the same as yours and it is my daily driver so i put in a good stereo, suspension products, couple of performance enhancers, etc...
i'm not worried about being correct by someone elses standards because it is my car...have fun

Its your car so do whateve you want to with it. Personally i dont think that i would like a "lime gold" paint job either. Some performance stuff you can do are
- new intake manifold
- new heads
- new carb
- electronic ignition
- headers
- good tune up
etc...
good luck with your car!

Changing the paint color of your car is souly up to you. Who cares what color you paint it, its your car, go with hat you like not with what is correct. My car is done to concourse driving standards, and i can tell you if my car came with SH@@ green i would change it in a heart beat. In all reality, changing the color doesnt nessasarly lower value, the only way it will, is if it was a special order color.
